blog reader appreciation day

It's no secret that this blog is mostly about, well, me. I like writing and my life is the only thing I'm really qualified to write about.

And sometimes I go to Vegas or I win a lot of money, so writing about my life is cool.  But other times, we're in on a Saturday night by 9:30 and watching NASCAR.  (And by watching NASCAR, I mean Derrick's watching NASCAR and I'm flipping through my phone.)  Hey, it happens to us all... but it's not something worth blogging about.

But I appreciate that you're here which is why I've made today

(Corny and a little weird.  Whatever.)  Instead of writing about just me me me, here are some other things from around the web that are just for you.

So no matter why you're here, get yourself a cup of tea and enjoy.

And if you don't know what a "Tabata" is...

You still  might want to go there because you can't buy anything here.  But if you want my advice on things you should buy, here are three things that I bought (and love) this week.

The only thing I'm good at making is fried eggs, but I am really good at looking at pictures of other people's food.  I will trade jokes for someone to make me one of the things below (or, if it'd make you happier, I'll stop telling jokes if you give me one of these treats).

1. Pumpkin Scones via Liv Life // 2. Freezer Chocolate PB cups via The Lean Green Bean // 3. Caprese Tomato Soup via Damn Delicious

As previously mentioned, this weekend was low key.  We went downtown so I could go shopping for some winter work clothes and something to wear at my marathon next weekend (which is naturally how I ended up with the denim vest and koala bear iPhone case above).

We also finally tried a restaurant we've had our eyes on, the Pasta Bowl.

It's a little hole-in-the-wall place, but in hindsight, going to any pasta joint in Chicago the night before the Chicago Marathon is dangerous at best.  Luckily, we were able to get a seat at the bar... so we got a free show with our meal.

Derrick got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and I got gnocchi with pesto.

I could match every calorie in that picture with words on its carb-loaded deliciousness, but I've got this...

...which says it better.

Other than that, we just hung around the neighborhood doing the usual: grocery shopping, laundry, Sunday brunch, and taking hipster pictures next to portable record players.

Not a particularly good weekend for blogging, but a lovely little weekend to be living.

Happy Monday!  Just think of it as a really long Friday with a few extended power naps.

Also, I'm linking up again at Sami's blog again because... well, do I need a reason?
