Blog Reader Appreciation Part 12:
This One's All About You (Link-Up!)

Note: Before you get preoccupied watching cats slip off of tables, this post is my first ever link-up.  So if you have a blog, link up!  Because if no one does, it's like no one came to my party.  And that's just sad.
--------

When I left Florida for Chicago, I thought, "Finally, I'll get to experience winter.  Maybe even fall and spring too."  When the first snowfall hit Chicago, you'd have thought I was a cat in a catnip garden.

Well I'm here to tell you now that seasons are HUGELY overrated.

As far as I can see, there is no reason for winter to exist once Christmas is over.  Quite frankly, I think that the holidays would be just fine without winter at all.

God, if you're reading this, please take note: YOU CAN STOP WITH THE SNOW NOW.

Since last Tuesday, I think it has stopped snowing for a total of 5 hours.  Two of those hours involved some sort of sleet/freezing rain mixtures that I'm pretty sure scratched my eyeball on my run yesterday.

I know that I'm usually all sunshine, rainbows, and Bloody Mary garnish but not today.  Enough is enough. My toes are cold, everything is wet, my eyeball is scratched, and it is STILL SNOWING.  I know that I decided to move here but good lord, what have I done?

So this appreciation is dedicated to anyone out there who has to walk half a mile every day in shin high snow to a bus stop in single digit temperatures.  Primarily me.  So yes, I guess I'm appreciating myself today.

In addition to appreciating myself, I want to extend an invitation for self-appreciation to anyone else out there feeling like they deserve a pat on the back.  Go ahead and give yourself that pat... no judgement here.

And no matter what you did to deserve that bit of self-congratulations, I've got something here for you.

It's annoying when your boss asks you to show him how to print something from Microsoft Word... for the fifth time.  Just remember, always kill 'em with kindness... and a bit of sarcasm.

Only ate lettuce and lemon water last week?  Great job!  Now reward yourself with some dessert.

That is quite the creative accomplishment.  Now it's time to reward yourself with some quality "do absolutely nothing for a while."

When you are doing nothing, you are doing something

Life can be hard but we still show up.  It might not be pretty, but you you made it here... right?  That alone deserves some praise.

Now to distract yourself from the fact that you haven't showered in two days, here are a few beautiful things to look at. (P.S. You might want to pick that Cheerio out of your hair in the meantime.)

You're doing better than me.

Today, my office was closed due to the "extreme cold."  The high was -8, the low was -15, and the windchill was around -40.  That's degrees Fahrenheit.

There's not much more I have to say about this, quite frankly.  So here are some pictures.

You may be wondering a few things.  Like, why are we outside?  And what could I possibly be smiling about in such conditions?

Well, let me tell ya...

Were you expecting anything else?

Monday.  Stay warm out there!

And as previously mentioned, I'm making this post a link-up.  I'm snowed in and need something good to read.  So link up and feel appreciated.  No rules, no particular topic... Just a big ol' pat on your blogging back.

And for those of you who love a button, I've got you covered.
