14 Things Worse than Being Single on Valentine's Day

A lot of people think that Valentine's Day is overdone.  Well, if you ask me, being done with Valentine's Day is way more overdone.

What's there to hate about a day dedicated to love, hearts, and commercialism?  At very least, it's a day that signals a mere 24 hours until outrageously discounted drug store chocolate.

But I have to admit: I like the mushy side of Valentine's Day.  After all, I am living with a wonderful man who tells me that I'm weird each and every day.  And any occasion that promotes $3.50 greeting cards to celebrate such a love is A-OK with me.

So I guess I also have to admit that I might not like February 14 as much if I was single.  It was fine back when every other 6 year old was obligated to give me a Lion King cardboard Valentine, but there are no such requirements in the real world.

The things is though, single ladies (and men), not having a Valentine on Valentine's Day isn't the worst thing in the world.  Seriously.  If you don't believe me, read on; I know at least 14 things that are worse:

1.  This.

2. Noticing a typo 30 seconds after you send an email.

3. Needing to pee 30 seconds after you paint your nails.

4. Someone not understanding standard public transportation etiquette such as, "Headphones means go away."

5. Stepping in yellow snow.

6. The day Justin Bieber came to America.

7. Getting to the gym after work and realizing  that you forgot to pack a pair of socks.

8. Preteens.

9. Anything before 9 AM.

10. Your parents telling you the "How You Were Conceived" story.

11. Word verification.

12. No milk for your Cheerios.

13. Noticing a piece of spinach in your teeth... five hours after lunch.

14. Taking a bite of Valentine's chocolate and realizing that it's... ROMAN NOUGAT.
